The trip to the deep south is a unique experience. It combines adventure, unusual encounters and amazing scenery. The road follows the whole south coast from Tulear to Fort Dauphin. We drive through bush, Mahafaly tombs and remote villages. These last ones with poetic names (Ambola, Itampolo or Lavanono) are as beautiful as the others. We spend the majority of the nights by the sea, where the beaches and lagoons are paradisiac. The bush shelters an endemic and wild fauna (turtles, lemurs and birds). In this trip, luxury takes another dimension, that of the discovery of a destination preserved from mass tourism. The accommodations available in the region are simple, clean and comfortable, far from the starry standard of the classic seaside resorts. Boarding to the Vezo country: a turquoise blue, emerald green and "fine" white paradise. One hour navigation by speedboat to Anakao, then by motorized dugout canoe to Camp Vezo in the village of Andramandeo . The navigation is done along the shore, except in case of high tides and always according to their schedules. Camp Vezo is an imaginary place, magnificent and very exotic. Incredible wake-up: each bungalow offers a magnificent view on the lagoon which stretches over 150 km. After a delicious homemade breakfast, you can choose to do nothing or to do everything: several surfing spots in the area for surfing enthusiasts, a trip to the mangroves in a traditional pirogue or a short hike to the village of Maromena. The lagoon with its warm water invites you to swim.

We leave Camp Vezo to discover the national park of Tsimanapetsotsa: the lake Tsimanapesotsa is the first "Ramsar" site of Madagascar, that is to say classified by the International Convention of the Wetlands. Stroll along the lake with pink flamingos and discovery of a magnificent dry forest where baobabs and unusual succulent plants with medicinal properties abound. Short transfer to Ambola. Lunch at the hotel's restaurant. Free afternoon in Ambola.

Continuation of the track along the coast. Arrival at Itampolo in the middle of the morning. We will enjoy the beach or, according to your wishes, we will walk to the fishing village and the impressive Mahafaly tombs, in company of your guide. Lunch at the lodge. In the middle of the afternoon, short hike towards a cave where we will be able, with a little luck, to observe a group of Catta Lemur.

Big day of track. Two difficult passages: the sand river of Linta and the river of Menarandra. Shortly after Itampolo, we leave the coast to go up a little, at the height of the plateau of Saodona. Picnic lunch. Then, crossing a rocky track, we approach the Menarandra and, leaving the land, we join the coast of the extreme south. Arrival at the end of the afternoon at Lavanono.

Lavanono, this small fishing village has only been accessible by road for 27 years. The village remained authentic and preserved. The majority of the families live from fishing. Lavonono means "long breast", referring to the "sugar loaf" of about 100 m high that served as a geographical landmark like a lighthouse, at the beginning of the 17th century, when the Portuguese and French galleons were crossing the Mozambique Channel. Lavanono is like our village. For several years, we have built a special bond with the population. One of our guides is from the village and his close family still lives there.
We spend the morning to discover the Antandroy culture, through encounters. Our immersion walk leads us inside the village to the witchdoctor's hut. We discover here a still ancestral way of life, endowed with a deep sense of human values. We finish our immersion by the sea. Rest and swimming. Lunch in front of the sea. Free afternoon at your leisure.

After the breakfast, continuation of the track. We leave the coast and go up to the national road 13 to continue the road towards Berenty. We go through the villages of Tsiombe and Ambovombe. Lunch in a local restaurant. Crossing of a sisal plantation before arriving in Berenty, in the late afternoon. Picnic lunch.

The private reserve covers an area of 240 hectares and extends along the Mandrare river. The flora and fauna are the gallery forest, both dry and thorny. The site is recognized as an ornithological spot. We also observe lemurs and mainly the Sifaka or dancing lemur. Lunch reserved at the lodge. We take the road to Fort Dauphin in the afternoon.
