Tsingy de Bemaraha

Limestone cathedrals listed as a World Heritage site.

Best time to goMay → October only (tracks closed otherwise) Recommended duration2 to 3 days Trips1

The Tsingy de Bemaraha are one of Madagascar’s most extraordinary landscapes: a forest of jagged limestone cathedrals, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, explored along trails fitted with walkways, ladders and suspension bridges. Below, the Manambolo River flows through gorges inhabited by lemurs.

Not to be missed

The Great Tsingy circuit with its suspension bridge over the limestone chaos, paddling down the Manambolo gorges by dugout canoe, and the Small Tsingy at sunset, more accessible for families.

Good to know

The park only opens in the dry season: the tracks are cut off the rest of the year. A harness is provided for the fitted sections — thrills guaranteed, not recommended if you’re afraid of heights.
